17 QUALITIES THAT ALLAH LOVES

Love of Allah is the basis of worship that should be directed to Him alone. Any other love should be for his sake too. The real love of Allah is to do whatever He ordained and to abandon whatever He forbade, in addition to Following Rasulullah (SAW)’s Sunnah. Whoever obeys someone or something other than Allah and His Messenger (SAW), or follows any saying other than theirs, or fears other than Allah or seeks the pleasure of other than Allah, or puts his trust in other than Him, does not love Allah, nor does he love His Messenger (SAW). Muslims should also love one another and wish the best for one another. Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said: “One will not be a true believer unless he loves for his brother what be loves for himself. ” (Bukhari)

SABR PATIENCE ● ـﻳ ٱﻠ ٱﻠ “And Allah loves as-Sâbirun (the patient). ” (Surah Imran 3: 146)

QIST JUSTICE & DEALING WITH EQUITY ● ٱﻞﺱ ٲﻳ ﻭﻭ ﺍﻭ ٱﻳ ﺍ ﻉﻭ ﺍ ﻡ ﺝ ﺍ ﻕﻯ ﻟ ﻕ ٱﻊﻭ ٱﻠ ﻭ ٱ ﻉﻭ ﺍ ﻳ ٱﻠ “O ye who believe! Be steadfast witnesses for Allah in equity, and let not hatred of any people seduce you that ye deal not justly. Deal justly, that is nearer to your duty. Observe your duty to Allah. Lo! Allah is informed of what ye do. ” (Surah Maeda 5: 8)

TAWAKUL PUTTING TRUST IN ALLAH ● ﻳ ٱﻞ ٱﻠ “Certainly, Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him). ” (Surah Imran 3: 159)

KINDNESS • Ayesha (RA) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (SAW ) said: “Allah loves kindness in all matters. ” (Bukhari)

TAWBAH REPENTANCE ● ٲﻳ ٱﻠ ٱﻠ “Truly, Allah loves those who turn unto him in repentance. ” (Surah Baqarah 2: 222)

TAQWA PIETY ● ﻳ ٱﻞ ٱﻠ “Verily, then Allah loves those who are al. Muttaqun (the pious). ” (Surah Imran 3: 76)

IHSAN GOOD DOING ● ٱﻞﺡﻳ ٱﻠ “Truly, Allah loves Al-Muhsinun (the gooddoers). ” (Surah Baqarah 2: 195)

TAHARAH PURIFICATION ● ﻳ ٱﻞ ٱﻠ “And Allah loves those who make themselves clean and pure. ” (Surah Tawbah 9: 108)

HUMILITY OF THE RICH • Sa’d Ibn Abi Waqqas (RA) said: Allah’s Messenger (SAW ) said: “Allah loves the believer who is pious and rich, but does not show off. ” (Muslim)

BELIEF & WORK • Al-Tabarâni narrated: Allah’s Messenger (SAW ) said: “Allah loves the slave who believes and acquires a career (or work). ”

A SENSE OF HONOUR • Al-Tirmidhi narrated: Allah’s Messenger (SAW ) said: “Allah loves from amongst his slaves, the one who has a sense of zeal or honour. ”

VIRTUOSITY • The Messenger of Allah (SAW)said: “Allah loves the believer who is poor but virtuous enough to refrain from begging though he has many children. ” (Muslim and Ahmed)

STRENGTH • Allah’s Messenger (SAW ) said: “The strong believer is better and more loved by Allah than the weak one, but they are both good. ” (Muslim)

LOVE FOR THE SAKE OF ALLAH • Al-Tabarâni, Ibn Ya’lâ, Ibn Hibban and Al-Hakim narrated: Allah’s Messenger (SAW ) said: “If two individuals love each other for the sake of Allah, the stronger in love to his brother will be more loved by Allah. ”

CONTINUOUS PERFORMANCE OFRIGHTEOUS DEEDS • Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said: “The best loved deeds to Allah are the ones that are continuous even if they are not very many. ” (Bukhari and Muslim)

GOOD MANNERS & CONDUCT • Al-Tirmidhi narrated: Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said: “The best loved by me and the nearest to me on the seats on the Day of Resurrection are those who have the best manners and conduct amongst you, who are intimate, are on good terms with others and are humble, and the most hated by me and who will be on the furthest seats from me are those who are talkative and arrogant. ”

ISRAAF (EXTRAVAGANCE) • Allah says: “Verily, He likes not Al-Musrifun (those who waste by extravagance)” (Al-Quraan 6: 141) • Excessive spending and lavishness in everything is the core of evil and leads to greater evil. It makes one forget the hereafter and preparing for it. Such acts would be a cause of humiliation and disgrace on the Day of Judgment. • That is why Almighty Allah has prescribed zakah (obligatory alms) and sadaqah (voluntary charity) in order to bless the wealth and to curb extravagance

ISTIKABAAR (PRIDE) • Allah says: “He likes not the proud. ” (Al-Quraan 16: 23) • Prophet (SAW) said: ” Pride is to completely disregard the truth and scorn (looking down upon) the people” (Muslim) • Sometimes a person might be deceived by his/ her knowledge, wealth, property, lineage and ancestry, or worship and be arrogant and boastful. • Al-Hassan Al-Basri advised that: “Do not become proud merely because you worship often, for consider what happened to Iblis after he spent a great deal of time worshipping”

Seven Qualities that Allah does not Love

MUKHTAL FAKHOOE (ARROGANT BOASTER) • • Allah says: “Verily, Allah likes not any arrogant boaster” (Al-Quraan 31: 18). • Servants of Allah cannot be true to themselves as long as they are flattering themselves, walking in an arrogant manner and looking down on people who are inferior to them and not mix with them. • The one who is arrogant in this world will be disgraced on the Day of Judgment. • Prophet Muhammed {SAW} said: “The arrogant will be gathered on the Day of Judgment in the form of small ants. Humiliation will surround them from everywhere” (Tirmidhi). Being arrogant and boastful are a deadly combination –beauty, knowledge, wealth and noble lineage should be taken as gifts from Almighty Allah and one should be humble and grateful for them rather than make them a means of pride and oppression.

UDWAAN (TRANSGRESSION) • Allah says: “Verily, Allah does not like the transgressors-(mu’tadeen)” (Al-Quraan 5: 87). • Human characteristics have limitations, which if surpassed would be transgression and if one falls short of it, it would be a defect – for example, generosity has a limitation, when surpassed, it becomes extravagance, when courage is surpassed, it becomes rashness; when Ibadah (worship) is surpassed, one falls into the risk of adopting Bid’ah – • some of the Companions almost fell into this trap when one of them said, “I will not eat meat, ” another said, “I will not marry women, ” while third said, “I will not sleep on the bed. ”When the Prophet (SAW) heard these statements, he said, “What is the matter with some people who said such and such? I fast and break the fast, sleep and wake to stand to pray, eat meat, and marry women. He who is not pleased with my Sunnah is not with me. ”(Al- Bukhari) • Therefore, moderation is the best way to deal with all matters – it is not to exaggerate and make it hard for ourselves by prohibiting the permissible things. And not to transgress the limits by excessively indulging in the permissible matters but rather we should only use what satisfies our need and not fall into extravagance.

ZULM (EVIL WRONGDOING) • • Zulm (Evil, wrongdoing) • This is a reprehensible trait whose existence spoils the Imaan and darkens the heart. The wrongdoers are those who have chosen the tempting transient life instead of the hereafter. • All acts of wrongdoing such as stealing, breach of trust, embezzlement, usurping the rights of others, and bribery, have serious consequences in the hereafter. • The Beloved Prophet {SAW} said: “Almighty Allah says: “O my servants, I have forbidden oppression for Myself and have made it forbidden among you. Therefore, do not commit oppression” (Muslim). Allah says: “And Allah does not like the Zalimun (oppressors, polytheists and wrong doers) “ (Al-Quraan 3: 57).

KHUYAANAH (TREACHERY) • Allah says: “Certainly, Allah likes not the treacherous” (Al-Quraan 8: 58). • The treacherous one is two-faced and inconsistent in words and deeds. Acts of treachery lead to betrayal, disloyalty, perfidy, deception and hypocrisy which in turn soil the Imaan.

IFSAAD (MISCHIEF-MAKING) • Ifsaad (Mischief-making • Allah says: “And Allah does not like the mufsidun (mischief makers)” (Al-Quraan 5: 64). • This is a comprehensive term which includes great crimes, sins, oppression, carrying false tales, hypocrisy, tyranny and all kinds of mischief. All these acts are despicable and stain the Imaan • “May Allah Guide Us To Do What Is Pleasing To Him. Aameen. ”
