What can we remember about Ireland? Use your notes from the revision lesson to recap Cromwell for worsening relations between England Ireland The Act of Union for increasing tensions The potato famine for worsening relations between Ireland England
Read the model answer and highlight where SFD and explanation have been used. Can you improve the answer? One reason as to why the 1801 Act of Union between the United Kingdom and Ireland was important due to the significant impact it had on Ireland. This was because at the time it was signed, the British Government had made a lot of promises if union came to be. An Example of this was that the English Prime Minister wanted Catholic emancipation, however it never came to be. Not only did this cause more tension between Catholics and Protestants, but it also created tension between the British and the Irish. This led to more problems than solutions being created as a result of the Act of Union. Therefore, the 1801 Act of Union caused tension between the English and the Irish as no actual religious issues in Ireland were fixed and Catholics were repressed further.
Complete the feedback you have received from your teacher.
