14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family[a] in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith— that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
To Know the Inner Strength of God’s Spirit Perhaps this raises several questions: • Doesn’t Christ already dwell in the heart of every believer by faith? • Isn’t that what happens when we become a child of God? so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith
That Our Life Would Be Anchored in the True Greatness of God’s Love. 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Christian character is described like this, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and selfcontrol. ” Paul prays is that we might be governed by love so that we will begin “to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge”
That We May Be Filled with the Fullness of God How? ? 1. Provided with help, comfort and strength. 2. Recipient of God’s Great Promises 3. Partakers of the Divine nature – 2 Pet 1: 4 4. Holiness becomes a part of your nature! – Matt. 5: 48
20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
God is able to DO. He is able to Do more than we Ask. He is able to do even more than we can imagine. Here is the application question: In light of what we have read here, is God able to meet the biggest need in your life right now? Take Home Points: Dare to trust Him!
