Virtual School Behavior Expectations • Behavior expectations are the same as if you were physically in school • Be on time • Mute yourself • Be respectful to others • I would like to remind you that if discipline problems occur, they will be a disqualifier for any events if we should be allowed to have them in the future. These include but are not limited to graduation events, drive-thru parades, and any other event planned for the 12 th grade class.
Attendance *It is important for your student to attend class more than ever. At this time, the state will still be adhering to compulsory attendance laws and all requirements for state testing are still required for graduation. 01 02 03 Students will need to log-in to the HUB and to Teams to receive their attendance for the day. The live instruction is important to understanding the independent work. You can use your HISD Connect to check your student’s attendance. *AT means absent *RA means present Compulsory attendance laws state that students should be in attendance no less than 90%. After, 10% of the total days enrolled, the student will not receive the credit toward graduation for the class.

Testing Windows • October 29: SAT School Day (grade 12) • November 16 - December 18: (MOY) Ren 360 Formal Progress Monitoring (PM) (all students in grades 1 -8; Tier II & III HS students in Alg. I, Eng. I & Eng. II) • December 8 -18: STAAR EOC (English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology, US History) • April 6 -May 7: English I & II EOC • May 4–June 4: STAAR EOC (Algebra I, Biology, US History) • June 1 - June 4: High School Seniors Final Exams – (grade 12) • June 22 - July 2: STAAR English I & II, Algebra I, Biology, US History
Credits and Graduation requirements • Students must complete 26 credits to get a high school diploma, including 4 credits in each of the core, 2 credits in a Foreign Language, 1. 5 credits in P. E. and Health, 1 credit in Fine Arts, and 5. 5 Elective credits • Students must pass ALL STAAR Assessments • Each student must do one of the following in order to graduate (HB 3): • Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) • Complete and submit a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) • Submit a signed opt-out form • Students must not have NGs. • https: //youtu. be/8 u 4 Aa 3 m. You will need your parent access code and password. These were emailed to your student HISD email account. To access your students email account the student will need to go to office 365. com using their HISD email. Their email is their ID # with an s in front and @online. houstonisd. org. Reopening “Need to Knows” • Physical distancing will be practiced in the classroom, hallways, common areas, and throughout the building inside and out. • Temperature checks will be conducted daily for students on campus. • Students, staff, and all persons on campus will be required to wear masks at all times; two- layered masks that cover the mouth and nose should be worn on a daily basis. If a student does not have a mask, one will be provided. Bandannas, scarves, handkerchiefs, or other loose-fitting cloths are not permitted to be used as masks. • Daily deep cleaning will occur throughout the campus with an emphasis on high touch surfaces. • Arrival time: 12 th Grade - 8: 20 - 8: 25 • If your student qualified for an off-campus period, we will be implementing a car hanger and/or badge sticker indicating the off-campus designation. You are still required to do a temperature check in front of the school, prior to entering the building.
A message from our Nurse Welcome to the nurse clinic! Please feel free to reach out to the nurse with any questions or concerns regarding your student's health. She has resources to share for free or low-cost health care, including immunizations, dental and eye care. Nurse Phillips has been a school nurse at Scarborough for 2 years after working in a hospital for 6 years on medical/surgical and labor and delivery floors. When not at school, Nurse Phillips enjoys hanging out with her daughter and husband, gardening and reading.
