I. EXPECT GOD TO BE GOOD Psalm 31: 19 19 How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world. Psalm 27: 13 -14 13 Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. 14 Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. Psalm 119: 68 68 You are good and do only good; teach me your decrees.
I. EXPECT GOD TO BE GOOD Psalm 34: 8 8 Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! Psalm 116: 5 -7 5 How kind the Lord is! How good he is! So merciful, this God of ours! 6 The Lord protects those of childlike faith; I was facing death, and he saved me. 7 Let my soul be at rest again, for the Lord has been good to me. Psalm 81: 10 b…Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things.
II. EXPECT GOD TO BE YOUR ROCK Psalm 18: 30 -31 30 God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. 31 For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock? Psalm 61: 1 -4 1 O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer! 2 From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, 3 for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me. 4 Let me live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings!
II. EXPECT GOD TO BE YOUR ROCK God is my Safe Place. God is my Salvation. God is my Unshakeable Kingdom. God is my One & Only. God is my Rescue. God is my Refresher. God is my Redeemer.
III. EXPECT GOD TO BE SMARTER (THAN YOU OR ANYONE ELSE) Romans 11: 33 33 Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! Colossians 2: 2 b-3 2 b. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself. 3 In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. James 1: 5 NIV 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
IV. EXPECT GOD TO BE YOUR GREATEST PLEASURE Psalm 16: 11 11 You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. Proverbs 21: 17 17 Those who love pleasure become poor; those who love wine and luxury will never be rich. I John 2: 16 -17 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
