1/16/2022 doc. : IEEE 15 -07 -0684 -00 -0030 TG 3 c Channel Models Golden Sets • According to TG 3 c selection criteria document the performance of the proposed system should be verified using 100 channel realizations from each golden set. • Three golden sets are available now for CM 1. 3 (LOS residential), CM 2. 3 (NLOS residential) and CM 3. 1 (LOS office) • Current presentation discusses the physical interpretation of some of the channel impulse responses (CIRs) from the golden set for CM 3. 1 TG 3 c Presentation 3 Comments on CM 3. 1 golden set

1/16/2022 doc. : IEEE 15 -07 -0684 -00 -0030 Properties of CM 3. 1 Golden Set • The channel impulse response for CM 3. 1 consists of the LOS ray corresponding to the 0 -th sample number and NLOS rays arriving after it. • It can be seen from the figures that for many CIRs NLOS rays are stronger than LOS ray or have the same power (about 15 CIRs from 100) TG 3 c Presentation 5 Comments on CM 3. 1 golden set

1/16/2022 doc. : IEEE 15 -07 -0684 -00 -0030 Physical Interpretation of CM 3. 1 Channel Realization # 89 • The LOS ray is followed by reflected ray coming from about the same direction with 2. 85 times larger amplitude (9 d. B stronger than LOS). • For example channel realization # 89 for CM 3. 1 is shown in the 3 D figure below. NLOS ray TG 3 c Presentation 6 Comments on CM 3. 1 golden set

1/16/2022 doc. : IEEE 15 -07 -0684 -00 -0030 Physical Interpretation of CM 3. 1 Channel Realization # 89 • The possible physical interpretation of the obtained result is shown in the figure below. The channel realization of this type could arise if both TX and RX antennas are pointed towards reflector. It leads to the LOS ray from backside lobe of TX antenna to be weaker than NLOS ray from main lobe and reflector TG 3 c Presentation 7 Comments on CM 3. 1 golden set

1/16/2022 doc. : IEEE 15 -07 -0684 -00 -0030 Conclusions • Current channel models

1/16/2022 doc. : IEEE 15 -07 -0684 -00 -0030 Conclusions • Current channel models assume application of RX antenna pattern which can be steered using some criterion (e. g. LOS or RX power maximization) • TX antenna pattern and its direction are fixed in the channel realizations and can not be changed. It leads to appearance of a few “strange” channel realizations. • It should be decided whether TX antenna pattern can be steered towards the arbitrary direction (as it is now for CM 3. 1 golden set) or it should be assumed that TX and RX antennas are mutually adjusted (e. g. pointed towards each other for LOS case). In this case some realizations from the golden set for CM 3. 1 should be changed TG 3 c Presentation 8 Comments on CM 3. 1 golden set
