100. Code of Safe Conduct, 101 General Safety Rules for All Team Members SAFETY CODE The following safety rules apply to all Hotel team members, regardless of position or other employment conditions: 1. Immediately report any work accident or injury, no matter how slight, to your supervisor or the manager-on-duty. 2. Follow your supervisor's specific safety instructions for your position and department. If you work more than one job or in more than one department, you need to be familiar with the safety rules for all your responsibilities and work areas. 3. Immediately report unsafe conditions to your supervisor. Examples of unsafe conditions include broken floors, leaky valves and pipes, defective electrical equipment, loose cords or wires, inoperable machine guards, exposed hot pipes, slippery floor areas, unusual odors and other team members not following our safety rules. Do not operate any mechanical, electrical or gas-fired equipment until you have been instructed and approved to do so by your supervisor. Do not operate faulty equipment or use damaged tools. Immediately notify your supervisor of these conditions. Dress properly to avoid accidents. Loose clothing, loose jewelry, ragged sleeves, high heels, platform heels and thin or broken soles are dangerous in certain areas. See your supervisor and review this Code for additional information about proper safety protection. Wear protective clothing and equipment, such as gloves, hard hats, goggles, etc. , as required. Get first-aid treatment promptly for all cuts and scratches. Wash your hands before eating. Avoid hand finger abrasions by using handles and knobs to open and close doors. Do not grab doors by the edges. Do not pick up broken glass, razor blades or other sharp objects with your bare hands. Use a dustpan and brush for cleaning up sharp materials. Dispose of sharp materials in a sharps-container. Do not attempt to repair a vacuum cleaner that is not cleaning satisfactorily. Call your supervisor. Empty the contents into a rubbish receptacle or onto an open newspaper for careful disposal. When moving heavy items, use hand trucks or carts. Do not overload hand trucks or carts so that your vision is impaired. Be alert when using hand trucks and carts, and slow down going around corners and on slopes. Watch for obstacles and pedestrians when pushing carts. Report all broken furniture and furniture with sharp edges. Store materials on shelves or bins so that they do not extend into passageways. Do not leave tools or equipment on window sills, balconies, elevated walkways, ledges, step ladders, beams or any place where they can fall. Do not allow children to play in or around the Hotel unattended by an adult supervisor. Report burned-out light bulbs and inoperable light fixtures to your supervisor. In an emergency, use an outside telephone to dial 9 -1 -1. Stay calm, and report your location and the nature of the emergency. Return tools and equipment to their proper storage place after using. Do not bring firearms, ammunition, weapons, combustibles or explosives onto Company property. Report to work well rested. Stay alert and be aware of work going on around you. Keep work areas neat, clean and free from litter and debris. Keep your mind on your job and avoid distractions. Always keep your frustration and temper under control. When using file cabinets, distribute the weight evenly among the file drawers. To prevent a file cabinet from falling on you, open only one drawer at a time and never use a drawer as a step.
