Daily Writing: What If… 1/8/14 Choose one prompt to respond to and explain with detail: • What would happen if there were no cars, buses, trains, boats, or planes? How would this change your life? • What would happen if there was no technology? What would our lives be like? Planner • Review for final test on Monday (vocab and content)

Wednesday: Review 1. Ball is rolling for volunteer outing! February? 2. Go through crossword puzzle. • Notebook title: Final Crucible Vocab • Write the word, definition and a picture of these words • OR, if you kept a clean notebook, just highlight the words and draw pictures next to it. 3. Play vocab charades/pictionary. 4. Review game in teams – pass the whiteboard after each question. 5. Tomorrow we’re doing a group research project. • Make sure to review on your own for the final test on Monday (remember Spark Notes is always a good resource if you don’t want to re-read the entire play).

Thursday: Final Project 1. Final project: record a scene from The Crucible to be edited/shown on Wednesday. 2. Go through rubric: KEEP THIS! • • • Be sure to dress as the character (costume) and use appropriate props. Pick an appropriate location! Set your scene. Min. length is 5 full minutes of acting. Prefer lines to be memorized. Each student must be in the action—filming does not count as anyone’s “part. ” No more than 3 students in a group. Feel free to do this with your friends outside school if you choose to video tape it, but you should have the main part. 10: 20 -10: 40 meet on carpet for administration speech!

Thursday: Final Project Journal title: Planning for Movie 1. Pick a scene! 2. Read through the scene and take notes on Brainstorm a list of people who will be in your movie and their part. 3. What part will you play? What are your character’s emotions?

Hot Seat • Designated “hot seat” in front of the room. 2 minutes to ask the seated person any question in a rapid-fire succession. The hot seat member is allowed to say “pass” for any too personal questions — avoid asking anything too personal, as it can ruin the fun. Sample questions: • “What would you do if you won the lottery? ” • “If you could meet and have dinner with any person who ever lived, who would it be and why? What would you ask that person? ” • “What three words would you use to describe yourself? ” • Questions can be funny, too, such as: • “What was your most embarrassing moment? ” • “What was your proudest moment? ” • “What was the silliest thing you’ve ever done? ”
