1 st Amendment freedom of speech 1. Freedom of speech is the political right to communicate one's opinions and ideas. • 1. Kind of like the kkk for and example, they can go and protest how much they hate blacks and Jews without getting arrested.

1 st amendment Freedom of religion • Freedom of religion is having the ability to embrace your own religion without any restrictions. • It means mostly, being able to do YOUR religion and not be judged by it.

st 1 amendment Freedom of press • Having the right to write anything you want without making threats • Kind of like I can say I don’t like George bush's hair.

nd amendment 2 • Right to bear arms • To be able to have guns and weapons incase of a bad situation • I can have a. 22 pistol in my house incase of a robbery

3 rd amendment Quartering soldiers during peacetime • • Not having soldiers in your house during good times of peace • Basically saying if there is not a war going on near your home you don’t have to quarter any soldiers

4 th amendment Unreasonable searches and seizures • • The police are not allowed to search your house without a warrant. • If I’m in my home the police can not come and search me without a reasonable warrant.

5 th amendment Indictment by grand jury, and eminent domain, protects the right to due process, and prohibits self-incrimination • protect the rights of people accused of crimes • I got nothing

6 th amendment Protects the right to a fair and speedy public trial by jury, including the rights to be notified of the accusations, to confront accuser, to obtain witnesses and to retain counsel • • You have to be notified that your having trial and you have the right to an attorney and witnesses • The memorandum rights.

7 th amendment Provides for the right to trial by jury in certain civil cases, according to common law • • Having the right to have a jury at your trial. • If I went to court I would be provided with a jury

8 th amendment Prohibits excessive fines and excessive bail, as well as cruel and unusual punishment • • You can’t have cruel and unusual punishments for no reason and big fines just because they think you should get a big fine • You can’t fine me because you think it would be cool.

9 th amendment Protects rights not enumerated in the constitution. • • Anything that was not enumerated in the constitution • Got nothing

10 th amendment Limits the powers of the federal government to those delegated to it by the Constitution • • The states can decide to do stuff • Got nothing

11 th amendment Immunity of states from suits from out-ofstate citizens and foreigners not living within the state borders. Lays the foundation for sovereign immunity • • Cant translate that into a definition • Got nothing

12 th amendment Revises presidential election procedures • • To elect presidents • We elected obama

13 th amendment Abolishes slavery and involuntary servitude, except as punishment for a crime • Every man is treated equally, and slavery is abolished Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery

14 th amendment Defines citizenship, contains the Privileges or Immunities Clause, the Due Process Clause, the Equal Protection Clause, and deals with post-Civil War issues • • It defines citizenship

15 th amendment Prohibits the denial of suffrage based on race, color, or previous condition of servitude • • Prohibits being disgraced by your race or ethnicity • Kind of like me trying to get a job and my employer says no because I am African American
