What Is the Difference between Service and Follow-Up? ù Follow-up refers to maintaining contact with a customer in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the product and the satisfaction of the customer 10
What Is A Business Relationship? ù A relationship revolving around business issues ù A business relationship much like a personal friendship ù Trust and wisdom in a relationship (personal or business) grow over time. ù Years may pass before an intimate friendship develops between buyer and seller. 11

The Product and Its Service Component ù Customer service – refers to the activities and programs the seller provides to make the relationship satisfying for the customer. Here are some customer expected services: ù Product – the product purchased has no defects ù Price – fair value for the price ù Place – the product is available when, where and as promised ù Promotion – correct, honest information in advertisements, from sales ù people and on product labels ù Exchange Transaction – handled correctly, quickly and professionally the first time ù After the Sale – warranty honored, repairs/exchanges made cheerfully; good product assembly and usage instructions Expectations determine service quality ùThe customer’s expectations being met determine the level of satisfaction 13
People Buy the Product Plus What? ù A product is a bundle of tangible and intangible attributes, including packaging, color, and brand, plus the services and even the reputation of the seller. 14
So What Would Be Meant by the Term “Product Plus? ”* ù The product is a good or service ù “Plus” refers to the other attributes of the product as described in the definition 15
