CONSTANTZA PORT Port of Constantza is the largest and deepest harbour at the Black Sea and the fourth largest European port. The Port has a total surface (land water) of 3, 626 ha. -156 berths (140 operational) - Quay length - almost 30 km - Length of breakwaters (north and south) – 14 km -Total handling capacity – over 120 million tons/year - Natural water depths is between 8 and 18. 5 m

THE DANUBE- BLACK SEA CANAL Inaugurated in May, 1984, has the following technical particulars: - 65 km length, 90 m width, - 7 m depth, - 5. 5 m current draught, - 17 m bridge clearance , - 10 -12 km/h sailing speed The canal is accessible to the river-maritime ships up to 5, 000 dwt, with a total length of 138 m, 16. 8 m breadth and 5. 5 m draught. Across the canal can sail convoys up to 6 barges, with a total length of 296 m, breadth of 22. 88 m and 3. 8 m draught (3000 tons each). Alongside the canal there are 2 commercial ports: Basarabi and Medgidia , where various operations can be performed, such as : loading-discharging, cargo storing and passenger transit.

In August 2012 Constanza Port hosted the largest ship ever navigating on the Black Sea, an ore-carrier registered in Hong Kong (length – 322 m; breadth – 50 m; draught – 17 m, loading capacity – 233. 000 t). 31
