Behavior Reminder • We encourage students at BIS to follow the PBS matrix in all settings. When students need a reminder, they may be asked to “redirect their energy. ” • Students will be invited to participate in an alternative recess activity.

Behavior Linked to Do. Jo Students will begin each day with Do. Jo points. Students making negative choices will lose Do. Jo. At the end of the day students will evaluate their own behavior. Positive choices will yield rewards. Negative choices may result in a loss of privilege. Mrs. Payne and I will keep a behavior notebook to keep track of Do. Jo points earned in both rooms. Students will redeem Do. Jo for rewards. *Any severe infraction of the rules, will immediately result in that student being sent to the office.

Bullying • Teachers will fill out a bullying form on our school website if a student reports they saw someone bullied or felt bullied themselves. • Parents are invited to fill out a bullying form on the school website if they feel their child is being bullied an investigation needs to take place. • BIS is anti-bullying and we want to prevent bullying from happening. • Please talk with your child about what it means to bully. Some students may not understand that bullying is not when another student chooses not to play with him or her or let him/her have their way when they do play.

Homework • Students who read at home more than 25 minutes each night dramatically

Homework • Students who read at home more than 25 minutes each night dramatically improve their scores on achievement tests. • For this reason, BIS has set the expectation that all students will read 100 minutes a week. Students may read alone, with a parent, sibling, or other significant individual. • Students will receive a monthly reading log to record their minutes. Parents do not need to sign the log before it is turned in at the end of the month.

H. I. P. P. O. Folder Happily Informed Parents…Papers and Objectives • The take-home folder will come home nightly. This will be our school-home connection. • Any work that has not been completed during the day will be sent home in the folder. • Graded papers will be sent home for you to keep. Any papers that need to be signed and returned will be marked. • With Standards Based Grading, there will be fewer papers that get sent home. • The BIS Home Reading Log will stay in the folder. At the end of the month, I will remove the log and place a new one.

Lunch Costs • The food service staff provides a nutritious breakfast on a daily basis for the minimal fee of $1. 20 or $0. 30 for children eligible for reduced price meals. Bolivar Intermediate School provides a nutritious hot lunch for students on a daily basis for the fee of $2. 20 per meal or $0. 65 for children eligible for reduced price meals. Extra milk is available for an additional $0. 35. Adults are welcome to eat lunch by paying the adult charge of $3. 00. • BIS students whose meal accounts accrue more than a $10. 00 debt will be offered an alternative meal consisting of peanut butter (or cheese/alternative protein if the student has a peanut allergy), fruit or raw vegetable, and milk.
