5 PVO BACKGROUND PVO (Parabat Veterans Organisation) was formally founded in February 2015, in order to unite Parabats all over the country and represent them in one organisation, The PVO This does not imply that any of the great organisations already existing should be abandoned, replaced or interfered with in any way. Organisations such as SAPA - Cape Canopy, LAARSA and KZN have been successful and well run for many years but are fairly localised in their membership. The PVO intends to become the national and international voice of the South African Paratrooper and welcomes all Parabat and Parabat organisation to become members, associate or affiliated members of the PVO. The PVO has been approved by the CMVO as an Ordinary Member, and it is therefore the sanctioned national voice of the South African Paratrooper. We welcome all Parabat organisations to become members, associates or affiliates of the PVO. 2017

8 CANOPIES & FALCONS (VALKS) PVO These social and semi-formal entities are the life and blood of the PVO. Primarily they serve a social function to get all SA Paratroopers & support groups in a region together on a regular basis to socialise and network. These Canopies and Falcons (Valks) are self standing, governed by their own Constitutions and rules, and have their own Executive and Annual general Meetings. The aim of our Canopies is to hold monthly meetings of short duration leaving plenty of time to socialise with family and friends. Being Parabats, the social mingling of like-minded soldiers is very important to us. The monthly Canopy Meetings serve a dual purpose. An opportunity to socialize over a glass of good cheer and to conduct the essential business of that month. Canopies and Valks are the heart of the PVO with feedback being sent back to the PVO Executive for any action needed. 2017
