1 Kings 18: 2 -6 So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab; and there was a severe famine in Samaria. 3 And Ahab had called Obadiah, who was in charge of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the Lord greatly. 4 For so it was, while Jezebel massacred the prophets of the Lord, that Obadiah had taken one hundred prophets and hidden them, fifty to a cave, and had fed them with bread and water. ) 5 And Ahab had said to Obadiah, "Go into the land to all the springs of water and to all the brooks; perhaps we may find grass to keep the horses and mules alive, so that we will not have to kill any livestock. " 6 So they divided the land between them to explore it; Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself. NKJV

Lessons to learn • God is faithful to His word! – Hiel paid the price for rebuilding the city of Jericho. – There was a drought in Israel – Israel’s suffering goes back to them choosing to disobey rather than obey. (Deut 28)

Lessons to learn • God was faithful to Elijah – Ravens fed him. – The widow fed him. – God sent the fire from heaven. – God protected him from Jezebel. – God fed him while he was running from Jezebel. – God fed him when he was discouraged. – God gave him three tasks to accomplish.

Lessons to learn • God was faithful to the widow – The oil did not run dry and the flour was not used up until the drought was over – He raised her son from the dead • God was faithful to the prophets – God’s faithfulness is not solely defined by what happens to us on this earth

Lessons to learn • God is faithful to us – God communicates His stories to us in a way that clearly demonstrates His faithfulness and builds our faith. – God shares with us the weaknesses of great men so we don’t give up when we fail. • Practical application – Do something that God wants you to do that you have not been doing.
