SYSTEM and SYSAUX Tablespaces • • • 1 -18 The SYSTEM and SYSAUX tablespaces are mandatory tablespaces. They are created at the time of database creation. They must be online. The SYSTEM tablespace is used for core functionality (for example, data dictionary tables).
