CONTENT 2 ST Hydro. Expert Ø We will show. . . Version 1. 1 l Hydro. Sim XP Startup Tutorial o Logon o New study o Choosing plants and reservoirs o Time horizon o Decision input data o Setup Inflow o Reservoir initial volume o Save and Run the study o Result analyzes © 2012 - Hydro. Byte Software

HYDROEXPERT LOGON 3 ST Hydro. Expert Ø Run Hydro. Expert Desktop version Double click the Hydro. Expert into your desktop area. Mobile version Version 1. 1 Find Hydro. Expert. Launch into your pen drive or SD card. Select Hydro. Expert or Hydro. Data and click on “Start” button. © 2012 - Hydro. Byte Software Logon with Convidado This is the “Guest” logon.

NEW STUDY 4 ST Hydro. Expert Ø Create a New Study under Hydro. Sim XP Model Choose Hydro. Sim XP In the Hydro. Expert’s “Study Navigator” click on “Hydro. Sim > Hydro. Sim XP” model category. Use the Study menu Version 1. 1 Hydro. Data © 2012 - Hydro. Byte Software Here you can navigate in the Brazilian’s 150 plant database. Choose the "Study > New. . . " menu command. You will see a "New Study" created with the 98 MW “UHE Jurumirim" hydroplant on it.

CHOOSE PLANT AND RESERVOIR 5 ST Hydro. Expert Ø Change the Simulation Horizon Time Horizon With the "Simulation horizon" controls, choose a time horizon to your study. Version 1. 1 For example, change the number of days to 7 (one week). © 2012 - Hydro. Byte Software Change the time interval from 30 minutes to one hour using the “Config” tab into "Simulation horizon“ panel.

DECISION INPUT DATA 6 ST Hydro. Expert Ø Determine the Operation & Decision Select the "Policy" tab. Fill out the "Outflow" (in m³/s) column as an decision policy for this reservoir. For example, you can fill out 300 m³/s. Version 1. 1 Hint: fill out one cell, right click on it and choose “Replicate Cells” to fill the entire column. © 2012 - Hydro. Byte Software You can decide Hydro Generation and unit commitment (columns “H. Gen. ” and “*”).

SETUP INFLOW 7 ST Hydro. Expert Ø Fill out the Reservoir’s Inflow Version 1. 1 Select the "Inflow" tab. Fill out the "Incremental inflow grid" (in m³/s) for the "Jurumirim" reservoir. For example, you can fill out 50 m³/s. This example will simulate a operational scenario with high outflows compared to the inflows. © 2012 - Hydro. Byte Software Hint: fill out one cell, right click on it and choose “Replicate Cells” to fill the entire column.

RESERVOIR’S INITIAL VOLUME 8 ST Hydro. Expert Ø Setup the Reservoir’s Initial Condition Reservoir’s Initial Volume Version 1. 1 Select the "Advanced" tab. Setup some "Initial volume" for the "Jurumirim" reservoir. For example, setup at 80% of usage. © 2012 - Hydro. Byte Software Note: the “Limit volume” permits setup a security level as a constraint to the reservoir operation.

SAVE AND RUN 9 ST Hydro. Expert Ø Let’s Run this Study Simulating. . . Save your study data with the "Study > Save" menu. Version 1. 1 To run the simulation model, use the "Study > Run" menu, or type the F 9 key. © 2012 - Hydro. Byte Software Results? Let’s see the “Results” tab. . .

RESULTS ANALYZES 10 ST Hydro. Expert Ø Simulated Trajectories Results Tab First, let’s see the flow trajectories. Version 1. 1 We can note that the 300 m³/s trajectory is equal to the Turbine Discharge. In other words, no spill will be present in this operation. © 2012 - Hydro. Byte Software The discharge/outflow trajectory also satisfy the minimum outflow and maximum discharge limits.

RESULTS ANALYZES 11 ST Hydro. Expert Ø Simulated Trajectories The Storage Impact Version 1. 1 With the outflow equals to 300 m³/s and with inflow equals to 50 m³/s, it is expected that the reservoir gets empty. © 2012 - Hydro. Byte Software You can change the volume (vertical) axis to: • Water level (m); • Absolute volume (hm³, cubic hectometer); • Volume usage (%).

RESULTS ANALYZES 12 ST Hydro. Expert Ø Advanced Simulation Results Turbine Efficiency The Hydro. Sim XP can calculate Turbine Efficiency using the associated Hill Curve. Version 1. 1 The Efficiency Hill Curve is stored in Hydro. Data database and is automatically imported at the study creation step. © 2012 - Hydro. Byte Software At Hydro. Data frame you can find the “Paranapanema > Jurumirim” plant. See “Powerhouse > Units > Hill Curve” tabs.

RESULTS ANALYZES 13 ST Hydro. Expert Ø Advanced Simulation Results Hydro Generation Version 1. 1 We can see the hydroelectric generation associated with the turbine release of 300 m³/s. © 2012 - Hydro. Byte Software The generation trajectory is continuously decreasing due to the decreasing levels from the reservoir storage. Also, we can see that the simulation model dispatches an 2 -unit commitment to maximize the outflow.
