6 One of the best suggestion one of my teachers offered was that coaches really get to know themselves – know your theories on living, belief systems (for example, do you think people can change? Do you hold hope? Can you hold it for others? ) Also, to know your motivations so you understand not only how you are engaging with a client but why. This also helps with visualizing. Every conversation we have with ourselves and others involves images. When we are familiar with our own stories and images, it helps to create images for the coachee. And it helps them create their own images/stories. Listen to the story and reflect back.

8 One-To-One Coaching This is coaching that is one coach to one client. It’s often either in person, on the phone or via internet (for example using Skype that has a video and/or audio option). With the creation of online services, coaching is now much more widely available to so many people who can access a coach by phone, VOIP or email and webinars. This is a valuable opportunity for people to coach and be coached.

Meyer, founder of Success Motivation® Institute, Inc. ) “The Wheel of Life is powerful because it gives you a vivid visual representation of the way your life is currently, compared with the way you'd ideally like it to be. It is called the "Wheel of Life" because each area of your life is mapped on a circle, like the spoke of a wheel. “ https: //www. mindtools. com/pages/article/new. HTE_93. htm

15 “Group Coaching continues to increase in popularity for coaches and clients alike. Grounded in our core coaching competencies, group coaching brings the coaching conversation into a small group context. It is an intimate conversation space, focused on goal setting, deepening awareness around key issues, taking action, and accountability. For a group to be considered group coaching the ICF has set the upper threshold group size at 15. Most groups are much smaller, particularly those in the virtual environment”. https: //www. thecoachingtoolscompany. com/group-coaching-the-whatand-why-guest-author-jennifer-britton/

16 The International Coaching Federation offers a set of industry standards. For coaches some of these are called “core competencies”, skills related to coaching and coach-specific training. For example, each certification program has to offer a certain number of hours of training and provide skill set training on certain topics. These core competencies are necessary to know if you are thinking about getting certified as a Life Coach. 19 Why Coach in a group format vs. 1: 1? There a couple realistic aspects of group coaching. To start you can make more money in less time (1 client at $125 per hour vs. 6 at $50. 00). It makes sense. You can also offer this format as an additional selling oint or option for businesses. Example: they can hire you for “in-house” coaching to coach individual employees, and then you also offer this as another program to help them achieve a separate objective and assist more employees and help you make more money. Better utilize your time. If time is short, this is the fastest way to access the most amount of clients The group experience offers a true “experiential” opportunity for clients – they get to see and hear from others going through the same thing, and they get to be part of the brainstorming a solution.

23 Examples of Group Coaching: Group coaching is taking many forms globally, given that it is driven and shaped by the various needs of different client groups. The group coaching conversation can feel "wide and broad" rather than the deep, deep dive of an individual coaching conversation. Example #1: A group coaching program for female leaders exploring work life issues - ongoing in person corporate sessions over several months. Example #2: Group coaching for new managers as a follow-on to leadership training, with conversations occurring monthly over a year. Example #3: A three month bi-weekly program offered virtually (by phone) for business owners, with a mix of small group and individual coaching calls.

25 The International Coach Federation recommends getting clear on exactly what you are doing.

25 The International Coach Federation recommends getting clear on exactly what you are doing. The coach is the subject matter expert at coaching, not necessarily the subject matter expert of the client’s coaching topic. The coach is not a subject expert, but rather is focused on helping the individual to unlock their own potential. The focus is very much on the individual and what is inside their head. A coach is not necessarily a designated individual: anyone can take a coaching approach with others, whether peers, subordinates or superiors.
