Inverter: �An electronic device or circuitry that changes direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC). �The input voltage, output voltage and frequency, and overall power handling depend on the design of the specific device or circuitry. �The inverter does not produce any power; the power is provided by the DC source.

Type of inverter circuits There are two types of inverter circuits 1. Single Phase Inverters 2. Three Phase Inverters

� Single Phase Inverter: Circuit diagram

� Single Phase operation: -ve Circuit operation

� Single Phase operation: +ve Circuit operation

� Three Phase Inverter: Circuit Diagram

� Three Phase Inverter: Output wave forms

� THD Calculation: Output signal wave form

� THD Calculation: The total harmonic distortion (THD) is the square root of the sum of the squares of the harmonic voltages divided by the fundamental voltage, which most be under 5% which is expectable for the current wave form :

� Efficiency Calculation:

�HW. (1): Draw the circuit diagram of the single phase inverter feeds an inductive load and draw the output wave forms. �HW. (2) : Draw the output wave forms for three phase inverter provides by input DC power supply of 12 V.
