LCLS-II Cryomodule Stand Design • The proposed LCLS-II 1. 3 GHz Cryomodule at SLAC

LCLS-II Cryomodule Stand Design • The proposed LCLS-II 1. 3 GHz Cryomodule at SLAC involves three basic steps; preparation, alignment and internal transport • Prep - work to remove the existing SLAC components will proceed • Following this removal effort, all existing grout from the old supports will also be removed • Floor will then be cleaned and prepared for the LCLS-II components • A drilling template with fiducials and an alignment crew using a laser tracker system will locate the (4) holes needed for the 1” – 8 Hilti rods • A contractor crew will then drill the holes at an 8” average depth using a stationary Hilti-style drill motor and diamond tip drill bits at each stand location along the LCLS-II beamline • Finally, the Hilti rods will be installed at each location after cleaning out the holes • 1"-8, grade-8 Hilti rods cut to length and HIT-RE 500 -SD Epoxy Adhesive by Hilti applied LCLS-II Cryomodule Final Review, May 12 - 14, 2015 5

LCLS-II Cryomodule Stand Design • Alignment • Nominally, the upper surface of each embedded

LCLS-II Cryomodule Stand Design • Alignment • Nominally, the upper surface of each embedded plate is found 3. 875” above the LCLS-II tunnel floor • This floor is pitched in two directions; 0. 6 degrees north-to-south and 0. 62 degrees east-to-west for drainage purposes • Also, the floor’s elevation varies +/- 1” along the LCLS-II tunnel length • The double nut design found at each Hilti to be attached to the embedded plate allows a leveling feature for each plate as well as a torqueing feature • Each embedded plate is roughly leveled using the lower 1”- 8 nuts and then checked using laser tracker system • Once each embedded plate has been located, a torque of 436 ft-lbs is evenly applied to secure each plate • Alignment spot-checks are used to track any movement of the embedded plates while torqueing • This procedure is repeated for the other embedded plates LCLS-II Cryomodule Final Review, May 12 - 14, 2015 6

LCLS-II Cryomodule Stand Design • Transport and Final Installation • Following installation and preliminary

LCLS-II Cryomodule Stand Design • Transport and Final Installation • Following installation and preliminary alignment of the embedded plates, the LCLS-II Cryomodule stands are installed • The stands are set into place using (6) ¾” – 10 bolts per stand • A torque value of 160 ft-lbs is evenly applied • Each stand is preset in a nominal position in all three axis • Each 1. 3 GHz Cryomodule is then led carefully down the aisle and translated laterally (transverse) into place • The Cryomodule is lowered carefully onto stands from transport dollies using hydraulics and secured • As possible, cryomodules are adjusted, final aligned and completely secured LCLS-II Cryomodule Final Review, May 12 - 14, 2015 8
